Currently, we have a position open for an experienced Fire Alarm Designer.
Salary Range - $20 and hour to $25 an hour
Job Responsibilities & Duties
Performing battery calculations based upon the requirements of applicable NFPA standards.
Create fire and security riser, one line drawing, riser drawing, floor plandevicelayout and detail drawings using the current version of AutoCAD LT.
Create electronic submittals sets for projects, consisting of project equipment list, manufacturer data sheets, battery calculations and CAD drawings in PDF format.
Using project riser drawing, and proprietary software, create fire alarm control panel (FACP) operational program.
Assist the salesmen by doing equipment take offs, hi-light devices on project floor plans, and fill in counts on Excel spreadsheet, then scan in device count drawings for future reference.
Assist salesmen by creating proposed/new device layout drawings for project bidding, using PDF or DWG floorplan files.
Reviewing job plans and specifications to determine scope of design.
Designing NFPA compliant drawings within allocated hours for each job.
Prepare submittals for Contractors, Property Owners, Fire Marshalls, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
Design Fire Alarm systems with accuracy and detail to enable field installation.
Prepare job close-out documents such as as-builts, O&M's and warranties
Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.
Perform field surveys and attend job meetings for coordination with contractors and other trades.
Prepare fabrication drawings, wiring and material lists for field technicians.
Must have valid Driver License and meet company driving history guidelines.
Education and/or experience
Experience in Fire Alarm design preferred.
Competence with Autodesk, Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD), AutoCAD
Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro
Should have an excellent understanding of NFPA Standards and Building Codes
Strong technology / computer skills
Strong understanding of Fire Alarm system installation practices
Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
